$f$ is smooth, and
$f$ is locally of finite presentation, $H^{-1}(\mathop{N\! L}\nolimits _{X/Y}) = 0$, and $H^0(\mathop{N\! L}\nolimits _{X/Y}) = \Omega _{X/Y}$ is finite locally free.
