Remark 17.25.11. Given a morphism of locally ringed spaces $f : Y \to X$ (see Schemes, Definition 26.2.1) the inverse image $f^{-1}(X_ s)$ is equal to $Y_{f^*s}$, where $f^*s \in \Gamma (Y, f^*\mathcal{L})$ is the pullback of $s$.
